CHAPTER 2 — Everything Is Gone

The husband stared at Victor.

“What… what’s done?”

Victor calmly placed his phone back into his pocket.

Then he spoke.

“Your bank accounts.”

“Frozen.”

The man went pale.

“Your company shares.”

“Sold.”

His knees weakened.

“Your contracts.”

“Terminated.”

The blonde woman screamed.

“No! You can’t do that!”

Victor finally looked at her.

One glance.

Enough to silence her.

Then came the final blow.

“And the house?”

Victor looked around the kitchen.

“This house was purchased under a company lease.”

He paused.

“A company partially owned by Laurent Holdings.”

The husband’s lips trembled.

“No…”

Victor gave a cold smile.

“Yes.”

“You no longer own anything.”

The husband lunged toward Katherine.

“You did this?!”

Two bodyguards instantly blocked him.

He shouted desperately.

“Katherine! Please! Listen to me!”

But Katherine’s expression remained unreadable.

“Listen?”

She stepped closer.

“When I burned my hand cooking for you, did you listen?”

“When I cried myself to sleep, did you care?”

“When you let her humiliate me in my own home…”

She glanced at the blonde woman.

“…did you stop her?”

Silence.

The husband shook.

“Katherine… I…”

She cut him off.

“No.”

Her voice was no longer weak.

It was sharp.

Powerful.

Royal.

“The woman you abused died on this kitchen floor.”

She looked down at the flour around her feet.

“What stands before you now…”

“…is Katherine Laurent.”

The blonde woman suddenly panicked.

She grabbed the husband’s arm.

“Do something!”

But he couldn’t.

Because he finally understood.

He had not broken a helpless woman.

He had humiliated a queen.

And kings fall when queens stop forgiving.

Then the front door opened again.

Another person entered.

A lawyer.

Holding documents.

He walked straight to Katherine.

“Ma’am.”

“The divorce papers are ready.”

The husband’s heart stopped.

Divorce?

No.

No, no, no.

Not this.

Not now.

He dropped to his knees.

“Katherine… please…”

But she did not look at him.

She signed.

Without hesitation.

The pen touched paper.

And his life shattered.

But fate had one more twist.

The lawyer whispered something into Katherine’s ear.

Her face changed.

For the first time—

She looked shocked.

“Are you sure?”

The lawyer nodded.

“Yes, ma’am.”

May you like

“There’s something else you need to know.”

“You’re pregnant.”
